Rehabilitation of Fener and Balat Districts Programme is a joint programme of European Union and Fatih Municipality and its implementation started in January 2003. The Programme will be completed by the end of October 2006. The Programme continues to work under four titles: restoration of houses, social rehabilitation, renovation of the historical Balat Market and establishment of a waste management strategy. The Programme aims for the active participation of the district inhabitants through regular feedback on implementation and decision-making.
